　　新一年，總是給人們帶來(lái)美好的`祝福。在這除舊迎新的日子里，世界各國的人們都以其別出心裁、各具特色的方式迎接著(zhù)新年的到來(lái)。

　　英國：元旦前一天，家家戶(hù)戶(hù)都必須做到瓶中有酒，櫥中有肉。英國人認為，如果沒(méi)有余下的酒肉，來(lái)年便會(huì )貧窮。除此之外，英國還流行新年“打井水”的風(fēng)俗，人們都爭取第一個(gè)去打水，認為第一個(gè)打水人為幸福之人，打來(lái)的水是吉祥之水。英國人在除夕的深夜，常帶上糕點(diǎn)和酒出去拜訪(fǎng)，他們不敲門(mén)，就徑直走進(jìn)親友家去。按英國人的風(fēng)俗，除夕千夜過(guò)后，朝屋里邁進(jìn)第一只腳的人，預示著(zhù)新的一年的運氣。如果第一個(gè)客人是個(gè)黑發(fā)的男人，或是個(gè)快樂(lè )、幸福而富裕的人，主人就將全年吉利走好運。如果第一個(gè)客人是個(gè)淺黃頭發(fā)的女人，或是個(gè)憂(yōu)傷、貧窮、不幸的人，主人在新的一年中將遭霉運，會(huì )遇上困難和災禍。除夕在親友家作客的人，在未交談前，要先去撥弄壁爐的火，祝福主人“開(kāi)門(mén)大吉”。在英國中部的一些地區，新年早上出門(mén)時(shí)，不管熟識還是陌生，都會(huì )互送銅錢(qián)，他們認為這樣做，不但對方一年有財氣，同時(shí)也會(huì )給自己帶來(lái)幸運。
