Good morning, professors and everyone. I come from JMU College. I am XXX and my supervisor is prof XXX. With her sincere and intellectual guidance, I have finished my paper.
The title of my paper is An Analysis of Ahab’s Personality Tragedy in Moby Dick. I choose this title as my topic due to the following reasons. Firstly, I am fond of literature works , especially gothic literature works. Secondly, I am quite familiar with this work as this is one of the texts in our American literature course . Last but not least , Moby-Dick is widely recognized as the summit not only of Melville’s art but of American nineteenth-centry fiction.
The purpose of this essay is to study Captain Ahab,the role in Moby-Dick, whose leg was bitten by the white whale in his process of the whaling. After losing his leg, he determined to revenge Moby Dick and tried to kill it. In order to revenge, Ahab ultimately dooms the crew of the Pequod (save for Ishmael) to death by his obsession with Moby Dick. By taking the comprehensive analysis perspective of Moby-Dick, this thesis will point out that the main characteristics of Ahab.
This paper consists of three parts. Part one presents an introduction to the Social Background and the life of the Author Herman Melvillehe ,Part two presents The Main Characteristics of Ahab. there are three aspects have been divided to analyze his characters: his monomania , his selfishness, and his individualism. Part three presents The Consequences of Ahab's Personality Tragedy.

英語(yǔ)論文答辯技巧
一、自述(用英語(yǔ)完成)：
1、先問(wèn)好，再開(kāi)始自述，自述時(shí)間為5-10分鐘，要簡(jiǎn)明扼要，必須將自述內容提綱制作成Powerpoint文件。
2、主要陳述內容(即Powerpoint文件主要內容)：
(1)自己選擇這個(gè)題目的原因;
(2)設計和實(shí)施的簡(jiǎn)單過(guò)程(如，商務(wù)方向：采用什么方法來(lái)搜集信息、資料等);
(3)自己論文的主要內容(不要念論文，最好用4、5句話(huà)簡(jiǎn)單介紹論文內容，如，商務(wù)方向：做了哪些調查，得出什么結論，計劃如何實(shí)施項目);
(4)仍然存在的問(wèn)題(如，商務(wù)：在實(shí)施項目中可能會(huì )遇到的風(fēng)險以及如何解決);
3、最好準備相關(guān)文字并熟記(答辯時(shí)要脫稿陳述，但是可以看PPT文件)。
4、語(yǔ)言最好簡(jiǎn)單清楚，不要直接用論文中內容，應該用解釋性的句式，如：When I was designing the lessons, I found that….
二、回答老師問(wèn)題(老師用英語(yǔ)提問(wèn)，學(xué)生用英語(yǔ)回答)：
1、大約有6-8個(gè)問(wèn)題，時(shí)間將持續10-15分鐘。
2、首先要聽(tīng)清楚問(wèn)題，如果沒(méi)有聽(tīng)清，可以要求老師重復問(wèn)題(可以說(shuō)pardon之類(lèi)的話(huà))。
3、回答時(shí)首先要態(tài)度好，要切題，而且不要保持沉默，不會(huì )時(shí)可以表示抱歉。
4、常見(jiàn)問(wèn)題：
(1) 關(guān)于選題：如Why did you choose this topic for your paper?或Why were you interested in this project?
(2) 關(guān)于具體部分：
商務(wù)方向：SWOT，COSTING，FLOWCHART，RISK，STAKEHOLDER，如Do you think this point a piece of weakness of the shop?或Do you think this a necessary activity for the project?
(3) 關(guān)于背景知識及理論知識：如What does SWOT stand for?(商務(wù))
(4) 關(guān)于論文存在的問(wèn)題：如In the last sentence on page … there are some grammatical errors.
(5) 關(guān)于項目或論文將來(lái)的發(fā)展：如：商務(wù)方向：If possible, will you carry out the project, and if so, do you think it will make profit?
5、帶一份定稿(要與老師們持有的論文頁(yè)碼一致)。
6、最后要向老師們表示感謝。
三、Powerpoint文件內容(英文)：
1、不要太多內容，最好在5-10個(gè)幻燈片。
2、字號最好是：封面標題44-50;各頁(yè)標題40-44，正文24-32。
3、內容最好是提綱式的，不要用長(cháng)句，也最好不用單詞，可以用簡(jiǎn)單句子或短語(yǔ)。
4、具體內容與上面提出的自述內容一致，這樣有利于自述。
5、格式一般是：封面(題目和姓名)-目錄-各方面內容-結束頁(yè)(可以表示感謝)。
