Exact entry requirements will vary by programme. Some programmes will specify grades required for entry along with compulsory subject areas, or state preferred subject areas. We have provided general guidance for programmes that ask for a Bachelors degree or Masters degree, but it is important that you also check our online prospectus for any non-academic entry requirements as well as for general application guidance.
To follow our programmes successfully, you must have a good command of English and be able to apply this in an academic environment. Important note:
You will be a stronger candidate for admission if you have high grades and are attending a university considered prestigious (considered to be those considered prestigious by UK NARIC, or within the Project 211 list of institutions).
For our most competitive courses at postgraduate taught level (i.e. those within the Department of Management, the Faculty of Law, and the Department of Culture, Media & Creative Industries) please note that offers will usually only be made to applicants from universities considered prestigious. In these cases will be looking for strong grades, usually an average of 85% or higher.

English language entry requirements
To study at King’s, it is essential that you can communicate effectively in English and are able to do so in an academic environment. You are usually required to provide certification of your competence in English before starting your studies. The exception is if the university is satisfied that your previous academic record shows that you can study and be examined in the English language.

Minimum English language requirements for our postgraduate programmes
If your first language is not English you must be able to provide recent evidence that your spoken and written command of the English language is adequate for the programmes for which you have applied.
The tables below show the minimum entry requirements for our postgraduate programmes. Please note that these may be subject to change in line with developments to UK Visas and Immigration policy.
The level of English language you are required to demonstrate is dependant upon the programme for which you have applied.
The level of English required for each programme is denoted by a five-band system, each band corresponds to a level of English language competence.
Unless specified, requirements are the same for postgraduate taught (PGT) programmes and postgraduate research programmes (PGR).
