英語(yǔ)日記沒(méi)有固定的格式。
日記是自己一天生活感受的記錄，所以只要能把感受寫(xiě)出來(lái)就行，格式?jīng)]有死規定。感受有多有少，有深有淺，所以，日記長(cháng)短也沒(méi)有必要規定，長(cháng)的可以寫(xiě)幾頁(yè)，短的可以是幾句體會(huì )最深的話(huà)。 但是，日記既然是每天生活感受的記錄，最好把時(shí)間、當時(shí)的環(huán)境、有紀念意義的地點(diǎn)等，也記錄下來(lái)，所以，日記又要注意必要的格式。這種格式，主要指的是寫(xiě)在日記前頭的話(huà)。
英文日記和漢語(yǔ)日記一樣，是用來(lái)記敘一天中所發(fā)生的有意義的事情或對將來(lái)的打算等。日記可分為記事、議論、描寫(xiě)及抒情等。
記事型是用英語(yǔ)記述當天自己生活學(xué)習中發(fā)生的事情。
議論型是對生活中的某一事情或情況現象談自己的看法，發(fā)表議論。
描寫(xiě)型或抒情型，則是對某人物事物的特征做細致的描述，或針對某事物抒發(fā)自己的感情。
�。保袷剑阂话闶窃谧笊辖怯浬袭斕烊掌�，星期，時(shí)間的排列法與書(shū)信一致，星期寫(xiě)在日期之后；右上角寫(xiě)上當天的天氣情況，表示天氣情況的.詞一般是形容詞，如：fine （晴朗的），cold （寒冷的），snowy（下雪），sunny（陽(yáng)光充足的），rainy（下雨的），cloudy（陰天的）等。日記的小標題寫(xiě)在下一行，也可省略不寫(xiě)。
�。玻畷r(shí)態(tài)：寫(xiě)日記的時(shí)間一般是在下午、晚上，有時(shí)也可以在第二天補寫(xiě)。因此，日記中所記述的事情通常發(fā)生在過(guò)去，常用一般過(guò)去時(shí)；但當記述天氣、描寫(xiě)景色或展望未來(lái)時(shí)，可以用一般現在時(shí)或一般將來(lái)時(shí)。寫(xiě)法大致和寫(xiě)漢語(yǔ)日記相同，都是在正文之前有日期、星期幾及當天的天氣情況。注意內容表達要清楚連貫、準確。

I like the Chinese new year better than any other festival. This is a time especially for rest and joy. I need not study. I wear good clothes and eat good food. I have a good time from morning till night. To be frank with you, I am as happy as a king.
