如果這是一封為秘書(shū)介紹新工作的推薦信,那還可以接受;不過(guò)對于申請研究生院來(lái)講,就似乎不太夠力度了。首先,這封推薦信犯的一個(gè)大忌就是不夠明確。從信中我們只看到推薦人很努力地用了一大堆形容詞,試著(zhù)告訴入學(xué)評審委員,這個(gè)申請人“很聰明”、“很熱心”、“很有潛力”、“很有分析能力”云云,相關(guān)的'例證卻付之厥如;接著(zhù),這封信又未能指出這個(gè)申請者這些特質(zhì)與將來(lái)的研究領(lǐng)域有何相關(guān),只說(shuō)在這個(gè)申請人的幫助下,他可以專(zhuān)心于研究工作,言下之意似乎就是告訴對方這個(gè)申請者是個(gè)很好的秘書(shū),而非一個(gè)有前景的研究生。
其實(shí),只要多用一點(diǎn)心思,換個(gè)觀(guān)察角度,單純、瑣碎的助理工作一樣可以表現出這名申請者在研究生院相關(guān)方面的能力。比方說(shuō),推薦人不妨強調他之所以雇用這個(gè)人為研究助理,是因為這個(gè)助理以前曾做過(guò)與他目前的研究領(lǐng)域相關(guān)的報告,表現出申請者在這個(gè)研究領(lǐng)域已經(jīng)具備的基礎知識和研究潛力。又以資料搜集工作為例,可以強調這個(gè)申請者如何善用某些方法,對資料進(jìn)行系統的分析整理等。
